For Nadia Cavner, the peace and security of the Assyrian people in the Middle East is one of her most important endeavors. This week, heartening news was shared about the Syrian Refugees who have been living in Turkey and Lebanon.
According to Ghassan al-Youssef, the co-chair of the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, Syrian refugees living in Lebanon and Turkey are now able to return home to the Deir ez-Zor region where they once lived.
Due to increasing stability in the Deir ez-Zor region, thousands of refugees can finally return home, where local administration is working to restore infrastructure and reconstruction to the eastern countryside. In the coming days and weeks, they plan to establish power to the region and allow water stations to begin irrigating.
To prevent destabilization attempts from outside forces, the Civil Administration is working alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Security Police Forces to increase security against ISIS attacks. In the meantime, we can only pray and continue to work for the peace of this region.
